  • This is the second time I am purchasing this item for my second vehicle. I love all the features it comes with and also well hidden.
  • As a preface, let me say that I have been doing these types of installs for quite some time. The tk103 is an excellent unit for the price and the install is very simple. As I am sure most of you have already read other comments, I will skip to the nitty-gritty. For this particular installation, I clipped all but the red, white, and black wires at the point on the harness where they fit into the main unit. This most certainly is not a necessity, however I do not plan on using any of the other features of this device. Reports for the GPS handy GSM antennae are very well-marked and will give you no trouble. The wiring harness itself, especially down to 3 wires, will also give you no trouble. The red has to go to a 12 volt constant signal, the black to the ground (I used a pre-drilled ground bolt that was already in use), and the white wire to an accessory witches a line that is hot when the car is on. There are many that go ahead and bridge the white and red wires, however I do like to see while tracking if the car is running or not and the ACC is one of the ways to do it. From what I have seen so far, I have had zero problem tracking and using other functions with the car off and ACC reading off.One of the most important parts of the installation will be how you position the GPS and GSM antennae. The radio antenna gets surprisingly good signal, as does the GPS antenna. Having said that, I still think it is very important to place the radio antenna somewhere as unobstructed as possible considering 2G service is becoming increasingly more sparse. One of the most aspects to really consider when purchasing this device is that it operates on 2G cellular networks that piggyback on AT&T\'s network. As they have already truncated 2G service in many areas across the United States, many places still have more than sufficient 2G coverage if not excellent. It has been discussed by AT&T officials that there may be a probable complete cessation of all 2G this year starting approximately Q1 of 2017. Considering the price point of this item it was not a very important blockade preventing me from purchasing this. Hopefully the same companies will produce a 3G and higher architecture device that will directly replace these making upgrades very easy.On the subject of mobile carrier activation, it was an absolute breeze. When you go to H2O Wireless\'s website , be sure and have an H2O Wireless SIM card handy which I ordered at the same time as this device. I will go ahead and in order describe the overall process to make things easier for you guys and gals.1. Go to the H2O Wireless website2. Go ahead and register with your email address3. Login using the username and password that you created.4. Once logged in, Click over to services and \"activate new number\"5. Where it asks if you already have an H2O Wireless SIM card, and her the same which is a 20 digit number on the back or the Act Fast code which is 9 or 10 digits and click \"check.\"6. From there you may continue and choose the plan which best suits you. On the recommendations of my Amazon peers, hoz pay as you go 4G LTE $10 plan.7. Go ahead and complete the purchase process and upon completion you will be taken to a screen which will give you your new 10-digit telephone number.8. Now you may remove the SIM card from the packaging and push the small pinhole button (#3 I believe) in order to access the SIM card tray.9. Now you may insert the SIM card making sure the orientation is correct, reinsert it into the module, and power up the device.10. You will see a light blinking on and off on side of the unit which indicates both GPS triangulation and radio signal acquisition, give it a minute or so.***Note: The following command are to be texted without quotation marks***11. Once the light is stable Kama it is safe to test the device by texting \"begin123456\" and awaiting a reply.12. Firstly, I recommend changing the password by texting \"password123456 xxxxxx\" (the \"x\" indicating new numbers). NOTE: replace 123456 with the new password in upcoming commands.13. You may add administrative phone numbers that will receive status updates and pertinent messages from the unit using the command \"admin123456 2223334444\" (2-4 being the number you wish to add).14. Lastly, you may text the device for one location ping using the command \"fix030s001n123456\"Happy tracking all!!
  • MARCH 2017 EDIT: This device only supports 2G networks. In the USA, only T-Mobile\'s still supports 2G. Tthey plan to keep 2G active until at least 2020 although they might stop support in some areas before then. The only carrier I could find that provides an affordable plan ($5 a month) on T-Mobile\'s network is SpeedTalk. Instructions below have been updated to use SpeedTalk.--My old truck got stolen in early 2015. I purchased this tracker and installed it in my new truck. It\'s very easy to do. You really only need to connect 3 wires for GPS tracking:- The black one has to be grounded to the frame of the vehicle (I secured it under an existing screw)- The red one needs to be connected to a constant 12v source (I used the ignition)- The white one needs to be connected to an accessory (only powered when the key is turned in the accessory position)I didn\'t want to touch any of the existing wires of my vehicle so I piggy backed on the circuits in the fuse box inside the cab, using these nifty adapters: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SUTYYS2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 (the link is for mini fuses used by most recent vehicles, you can also buy them for the older/larger fuses)I purchased a SpeedTalk wireless simcard (you\'ll need to activate it with a cellphone before installing it into the tracker) and am only paying $5 a month.I monitor the vehicle\'s position every 10 seconds using the free GPS-Trace Orange service (For device type, select \"Xexun TK103-2\". Make sure you add it as a vehicle, NOT a personal tracker. If you can\'t find \"Xexun TK103-2\" in the list then you most likely are not adding a vehicle).I sent the following text message commands to the tracker to configure it.begin123456(initial command to get started)password123456 654321(to change the password from the default of 123456 to, for instance, 654321)admin654321 1234567890(to add phone number 1234567890 as an authorized number)imei654321(to retrieve the unit’s IMEI code, which is needed to create the device on the monitoring system you’ll use, gps-trace or otherwise)time zone654321 -5(configured proper timezone offset, -5 hours from GMT, for the east coast where I live)apn654321 wholesale(This sets the APN for SpeedTalk. If you use a different carrier you will need to find their APN)adminip654321 193.193.165.166 20462(IP address and port for gps-trace. You\'ll have to change this if you don\'t want to use gps-trace)gprs654321(instructs the unit to send data over GPRS rather than as a SMS when activating continuous monitoring with the fix command below)less gprs654321 on(So you don\'t send data when the vehicle is not running/white accessory wire is not hot. You can still receive a SMS with the position of the tracker by calling its phone number)fix010s***n654321(start sending data every 10 seconds)That’s it!
  • Amazing product. I would recommend testing it(wire it up to 12v power w/ a working sim card) out before wiring it to your car, etc. I ran into some problem during the setup using google voice to sent out the text commands but after the switch to another sms app, problem solved. I end only using the door sensor, ACC sensor and the built in shock sensor. Pretty easy on the wiring since i don\'t have to deal with fuel pump cutoff relay, end up cutting out a good chunk of the wiring harness. My gps unit somehow comes with the remote which makes arming/disarming the gps device very easy(instead of arming through the text commands), highly getting that remote options. the built in shock sensor is ok, i have to jump around a lot to get it turn on. Probably the best thing i bought that is under $40. Also im using lycamobile for my sim, supposedly there isn\'t a expiration date from other user(even-thought it said it will exp 90days) so $10 should last a whole yr or more assuming you are not use it much(4 cents a text) but a security/tracker in case someone break-in/stole your car.
