Garmin nüvi 1300T GPS Navigation System
- Although I had this model for two years previously and was really happy with it - then it was stolen out of my car at a hotel. When I ordered the replacement for it through Amazon for a 2,600 mile trip, it had many faults.1st - I could drive 10-25 miles before it would find the satelites. Which caused some missed turns, and a lot of frustration.2nd - Twice during the trip it almost caused an accident. The first was in Dallas. It told me to go towards the Waco interstate (I-35?) downtown. That exit was on the far right, then all of a sudden it switched to the Shreveport/Texarkana exit which was on the far left within a .25 mile of the turn. Getting across the 6 lanes of rush hour traffic was not fun. Then in New Orleans, I was on US 90 and it told me to take a left and then a quick right to follow US 90 BUT several weeks before they had changed the road! I followed the GPS directions and found myself entering an EXIT do not enter. I had to jump the medium to get out of that one. Luckily, it was 2 am and no traffic.3rd - When I followed the instructions in the book to reset to factory presets - nothing happened. To make sure it wasn\'t just me, I had three people that own Garmins to try to reset it for me. No Joy!4th - when trying to type in a street or city name I had to play with the keys. Up and too the right on some rows of keys, and down and to the left on another row. ???? Went through the troubleshooting diagnosis to calibrate the keyboard - didn\'t work! Had three friends try it - No Joy!While there were more problems with this unit, these were enough to send it back. Too bad, that my original one was stolen because it was great. But whoever did the latest manufacturing run on this latest batch did a really bad job. Although I understand that they are manufactured in China, the personnel at Garmin should have done a better job of quality control checking these units when delivered to the USA.I won\'t buy this model again, and might go with the Tom Tom instead, although not totally turned off against Garmin, they need to get it together!Update 3/13/2012: Sent this unit back and was impressed with Amazon! Almost painless and money was quickly reverse posted to my credit card. Thanks Amazon! Now I am in the process of reading reviews to find a good replacement for it.
- I bought this navi for my boyfriend who drives all over for work. The traffic feature is pretty cool and definitely useful to him. He loves the big screen and it\'s awesome quality graphics. The annoying gps lady voice isn\'t as annoying as earlier models:). One thing he doesn\'t like is that when he goes to touch the screen and drag to a location near his current destination the gps jumps to a store nearby instead of just letting you browse street names and roads around you. He hasn\'t been using it for too long and I don\'t know too much about it but I know enough to say that I will probably be getting the same one for myself.
- I bought this for $50 and I am very happy. The touch screen is older, not like a smartphone, meaning you might have to use your nail opposed to your finger tip. It doesn\'t have voice to text or anything fancy. Does include retail locations, but nothing like you would find on Google maps. Overall, for the price, you won\'t find a better deal. Garmin\'s website also has downloadable voices and vehicle models. FYI, hold down the top left or right to view advanced options. I took away one of the stars due to the touch screen.
- This is a great GPS that is very easy to use, which is key in a GPS as you don\'t want it to be complicated while driving. Everyone that has gotten in my car has been able to figure out how to use the unit with very few instructions. The traffic feature seems to work ok, but it has not been flawless. The information that is transmuted to the unit is not always up to date, but that is not the Nuvi 1300T\'s fault as it only receives that information. There are pop up coupons that come up on screen due to the \"Free\" lifetime traffic updates, but they seem to only happen when the unit is first turned on and go away fairly quickly.
- I bought this item an I\'m extremely satisfied. I live in Bronx, NY and have used it in the entire NYC area, and can say it has been accurate in arriving at its programed destination point. I would strongly give it a great buy reference. My only regret is that I wish I had bought it sooner.
- NOT THE ONE I WANTED BUT VERY GOOD PRODUCT
- My Garmin 1300T just arrived from the seller, it frozen, won\'t charge, and when I actually got it work, it said no map data. Try to contact the seller....they sound like don\'t care as long as they got the money. Too bad for me, I throw away the box right after I open it which is exactly the trash day... Call Garmin support, they show me here and there but still won\'t work. I don\'t want anyone go through what I did, my husband got so mad he throw the GPS into the trash can and said no more order from them.
- I will have a more informed after my trip to Fla. in April. so fari like it it gets me around familiar places. Will write a review in May.
