- In my case, it\'s in a 2014 Corolla. It blocks the clock and half of the infotainment display, but the nav is more important to me. I wear a watch for the time, and an MP3 player and earbuds for audio. There aren\'t many good alternatives to mount a Garmin, and the windshield suction cup sucks.
- I have a 2006 Ford Fusion and it worked great to have my Garmin in the center of the dash and not mounted on my front window.
- when driving the gps will eventually tilt all the way down. needs some way to tighten mount on ball
- I had to find the garmin swivel to use for this mount, but after adding it to the mount it works flawlessly.
- Just received the product today and went and put it in. I have a large 6\" GSP mounted in a Honda element. This is great becauseA) My CD player eats CD\'s and I no longer use it.B) This pulls the GPS off my window or dash allowing for me to have better visibilityC) when you apply the 3M stickies as directed it sits very snugly in the CD insert.D) living in a large city, this makes my vehicle when parked at stores and out on the town less of a target because they dont see that huge honkin GPS on my dashboard. I have had my car broken into before because of the \"look free shiny toy\" aspect of a GPS on the Dash, this though maybe illogical (if someone is going to break in they are going to break in) makes me feel that my vehicle is a lower priority target at a glance.I am not sure what weight or size GPS units others are stating that they are using that this does not work well will. But it holds the huge almost tablet sized unit I have without issue.
- Depending on the GPS unit you have, this may or may not be the product for you.The good news: This is a seriously well-built device for the price. It\'s well constructed and very solid. The CD mounting mechanism is great, and slightly soft rubber to avoid scratching any components on your vehicle. I tried this with the Nuvi 40LM and it worked perfectly. While the tightening knob on the bottom is rather large, it didn\'t interfere much with visibility of the head unit (the CD drive is right above the screen on my vehicle).The not-so-good news: After upgrading from the 40LM to the 3590LMT, this product fell out of favour with me. While the 40LM is quite small and light, the weight and mounting bracket of the 3590LMT seemed to be a bit much for this bracket. While the bracket itself is solid as a rock, there\'s only so much stability that can come from the 3/4\" blade clamped into the CD drive... I found when driving that the larger Nuvi bounced and jiggled so much it was quite annoying, and I was concerned for the downward pressure of the whole contraption on the CD drive in my vehicle.Two other small notes: The USB key didn\'t work on my Mac (not the selling feature of this thing at all, mind you). And I am not sure what the extra mounting piece is for that you can see in the picture. It must be for a newer version of the Nuvi, would be my guess? I popped it off so I could use the ball-mount for mine.
- The product works as I expected and agree with most of the reviews I read before purchasing. It is the best solution for mounting my garmin gps in my car. The mounting is the cd slot in my vehicle (honda civic) works just perfect for me. It sits high enough on the dash to see while driving. I did have to turn the pivoting bracket upside down as my cd slot in my car is angled slightly upward. Other then this issues the position is at good height for viewing. I do agree the gps does bounce a little when you hit bumps or rough roads but, the mount never fell out of the slot. My only suggestion would be if the mfg could make the mounting plate a little longer as in distance from the fins that slide into the cd slot to give the gps more angel movement ability. This would be helpful. The design and use of this mount far out shine the few short comings and I would recommend this to garmin gps owners as the best alternative to the suction cup window mount that comes with all garmin gps units.
- Ran across this product while looking for a vent holder for my GPS. Didn\'t know they had this! Works great holds well, but when I hit those pot holes and speed bumps I do tend to steady it so it doesn\'t bounce around too much! You can fit this right side up or upside down depending on how much it blocks your radio or a/c controls. But I can live with that as it\'s better than a bean bag on the dash or stuck to your windshield!Just have to get used to clipping it on as one time I did not have it on correctly and it bounced off and just about gave me a heart attack as it landed on it\'s glass face. But all was good and I made sure it\'s always fastened good now! I think it would be better if it was a twist and lock rather than a clip lock. I always remove it when I don\'t need it as I worry about the tabs bending if I should leave it in the hot car during the 100 degree summer temps! Not something I want to test out!
