Optimus 2.0 GPS Tracker for Vehicles, Assets, People - 4G LTE - Real-Time GPS Tracking Device - Instant Alerts
- We have two elementary school aged children, and wanted to be able to track our children on their daily trek to school. We have already in the matter of a couple of months of school experienced four bus delays/issues (bus broke down twice, rearended once in a traffic accident, and late another time because of an incident on the Jr High route). We had hoped that we could just get a GPS tracker, and add it to our Verizon wireless plan. Don\'t laugh ... you would think that would have been an easy request. Verizon has ONE such tracker on their website, but it says it\'s only available for in-store purchase. But NONE of the Verizon stores in the country have this tracker. So, we found another tracker on another website that \"guaranteed\" it would work on the Verizon network. We bought it, and ended up essentially \"getting fleeced\" on that tracker. We found out AFTER our purchase that the item is/was \"end of life\" and no longer supported, so we\'re just chucking that experience up to \"lesson learned.\" We won\'t be making any other such purchases from THAT \"budget\" website merchant! We thought it should have been all too easy to add a GPS/LTE tracker to our existing wireless account. We didn\'t want our six and nine year old (Kindergartner and 3rd grader) to have a smartphone at such a young age. Then we found these trackers on Amazon. Our experience couldn\'t possibly be better. The trackers charge with a USB-C connection, and the charge lasts about two weeks with the device set to \"ping\" once a minute. Moreover, these devices are just dropped into their backpacks and essentially forgotten as they send out their \"pings\" to update location data once a minute. There is a SOS button on the tracker, so should the kids feel threatened or if they are in an emergency situation, they can press the button on the face of the device, and an alert will be sent to our monitoring cell phones immediately.Setup was painless and easy. Optimus Tracker does offer an annual \"plan,\" and the app to monitor the devices is an easy installation from either the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store. $20 for the tracker, and then $20 per month for service (less expensive with the annual plan) is a small price to pay for that peace of mind in today\'s crazy, crazy world to know where our kids are and that they are safe.We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tracker device for other parents wanting to know their young children\'s whereabouts.
- Weather for luggage or saftey great tracker that you don\'t have to woryabout not working or dieing fast
- I had the product for a short time but did not use it. I needed something smaller for my scooter but it seems like a great product for a car, atv, etc
- I bought this after my family member was attacked and got their car stolen. So, I figure best way to protect my vehicle and my my family\'s was to purchase a GPS.I like it\'s accurate signals, but the battery life is what gives it kinda a downer. I wish the app would send phone notifications instead of texts. When using texts it sends multiple messages until you charge it. Kinda annoying.Overall, it works for it\'s purpose.
- Pretty accurate, although sometimes if parked I get random moves when I know it should be static. The 2.0 has a two week battery life, is it worth it to upgrade for a longer battery? Not sure.Very discreet, I also got the case and WOW the magnets HANG ON great!Happy with this unit.
- This tracker had the best battery life ever... at 100% it could probably last me at least 2 weeks+, being that I check on it or send it commands to prompt location or speed up updates...maybe 5-8x a day.Definitely worth the money. Paying monthly for the subscription is the only thing I was unaware of... but it is so worth the $20/mo.
- I needed a device for peace of mind to help track family while they are on their daily walks. This device works perfectly for those needs.Comparison to google maps location sharing: giving Google maps a shot made the most sense. Free, existing technology. However, it’s also terribly unreliable. There are huge gaps in time (hours) when the app might refresh to give an accurate location.Comparison to Jiobit, the new competitor with lots of marketing hype behind it: I like the design but that is just about all. It has curved edges and has the shape of car key alarm that would fit neatly into the palm of your hand. They have LOTS of positive testimonials from both tech and parent reviewers. BUT do yourself a favor and read the fine print from actual buyers. A lot of people complained in particular about the billing. The Jiobit subscription appears to be permanent, as in forever! You cannot cancel independently; you have to do so via email. And when you do, your device will stop working entirely, no chance of signing back on at a later date. Goodbye $130. The only way to keep using your device to keep paying for it.That’s when I changed my keyword search to something more simple, “GPS tracking device.“ There are a lot of results that pop up. Plenty of them are very old-school, clunky, ugly-looking, outdated technologies. Among them, you’ll also see very odd pricing structures... for example, if you want to see more frequent/accurate location updates, you have to pay more, up to $30-40+ monthly. After doing a lot of sifting, I settled on the Optimus tracker. No regrets at all.Pros:• Not a bad looking device. Very simple. Has a couple LED lights to let you know it’s working or charging.• Excellent battery life - in my case, it will run for a week before going to about 50%.• Has web based map as well as app based.• Mobile phone app is simple, intuitive, and well designed.• App will allow the creation of multiple Geo fences.• App has the ability to send text notifications to multiple phone numbers.• Device and app will allow you to choose the frequency of the location updates ranging from 10 minutes all the way down to 10 seconds… At no extra cost. (Although, the battery will drain faster at the smaller intervals.)• Cancel any time you want! Restart your subscription anytime you want. $19/month at the time of this review.• The price of the product is less than a quarter of what people are paying to get ripped off by Jiobit. If I had any wishes, it might be that the device was a little bit smaller. As it is, it has the appearance and size of a tiny remote control. But given all of the advantages mentioned above, that’stotally fine.I would recommend this!
- trust this review. it’s simple to use, simple to set up. the hardest part is opening the little rubber cover to charge it. maps work fantastic. worth the money. excellent product
