- The suction cup on my original mount tore so I needed a replacement. This isn\'t great but it\'s good enough. The bracket that attaches to the GPS was better on my OEM and I was able to swap the half\'s at the ball and socket: they are interchangeable. The suction cup works almost too well. It is very difficult to release. I\'m afraid I may tear the suction cup prematurely.
- I have had my GPS for about three years (a dinosaur by today\'s standards). The original mount which I purchased with the unit wore out. The ball and socket no longer held as the rubber around the ball that fits into the sockets started to crack. I ended up using rubber bands to hold the GPS in place on the windshield mount which was practically useless. Time to upgrade to a new GPS or buy a new window mount. To buy a comparable GPS was looking at $150.00 expense so I went for the window mount. Have only had this mount for a couple of days but it does what it is supposed to, it holds my GPS to my windshield. Having said that one thought to share with other users concerning the unit falling off the windshield. I have found it absolutely critical that you must use a window cleaner on the windshield where the suction cup is to be mounted and also wiping the suction cup itself with a clean. Then when both a dry, the mount will stick literally for months (as has been my experience with other suction mounts). If the section cup or window have the least bit of dirt, residue of any sort, its going to fall off.
- I like this product, it holds my GPS unit in the proper place for viewing, but it must be on a flat clear surface.Dashboard no good.
- The original adapter finally broke, found this and it works perfectly. This was twice the fee on the Magellan website.
- The ball mount is exactly the same size as the OEM mount\'s ball. I ended up reusing the OEM brackt and just using the suction cup/ball mount part with the OEM bracket. The bracket that comes with this mount does not have a strain relief for the power cable which is why I retrofit the old bracket to the new ball mount. The cup\'s suction was excellent and the cup itself was protected with a plastic film so that it would be perfectly clean upon first use. I now have a spare bracket as well. Win-win.
- This may be good for cell phones. Not for gps
- The suction cup on the original mount cracked and fell apart, so I bought this as a replacement.The good: The suction cup holds strongly and securely and looks like it will last a long timeThe bad: the original had a threaded collar that tightened around the mount ball which locked the mount in position - this one just has a ball that snaps in. Hit a bump and the GPS flops around. It might work if you mount it low enough that the bottom rests on the dashboard - but otherwise it is too loose. The original had a provision to lock the power adapter to the mount, securely holding it in place. This one just leaves the power cord held in place by the plug which is not very secure.
