- Perfect replacement for my Dell Inspiron 5558. Charging battery and no more lag issues. Been solid for first 3 months so far.
- I have this wired in my bike so the unit is powered only when the bike is running. The photo shows only the power plug end to the Nuvi. There was plenty of length to get the job done and tucking in the step-down transformer section (the small square box portion) proved easy to do in tight spaces. Be sure to watch for pinch points in your run and leave enough extra length to allow for turning your bike to lock in both directions freely. I was careful to check on any heat generated but there was no noticeable change in temp. After several rides, I\'ve had no power problems or disruptions (indicating faulty connections or QC issues).I\'d buy again (but probably won\'t have to).
- I have this installed in my 2004 Chrysler Concorde Limited. I say that because I have the GPS mounted at the top of the windshield on the passenger side (to the right of the rear view mirror - I will attach a picture later). So in my installation the wire was about 4 feet too short and I had to extend it. The wire is tucked into my headliner and then runs down my A Pillar into my fuse panel. I attached the power to a \"key on\" fuse with a fuse tap that you can find at any Auto Zone or Advanced Parts Store. I grounded directly into the metal with a screw using a butt connector with a ring.The GPS powers on as it should and charges the GPS. When I turn off the ignition the GPS warns me that the power has been lost and will ask me to continue on battery power. I am using a GARMIN NUVI 50LM by the way, I apologize that I didn\'t mention that earlier.Recommended if you are looking for a hard wired solution. I could have accomplished the same by using the cigarette lighter power source it came with, but I did not want to destroy it in the event I needed it in another vehicle.
- Works exactly as advertised. It should be noted that the total length of the wire is 10 feet. I submitted a question about shortening it and received several answers. The facts are, it can be shortened if you can solder. I shortened both ends, to a total of about 24\" to use it on my motorcycle. You should use heat shrink tubing, probably a double layer to ensure waterproofing. You also might want to solder on a short length of heavier wire at the connection end as the wire is of a very thin gauge and crimp connectors won\'t work well. I bought the Garmin unit for another motorcycle and it may be more appropriate if you are using it for a motorcycle or other application where you want the length of the wire between the boxes and the mini USB plug to be shorter. Otherwise, this product is fine.
- Although not clear in the photo, the power supply box is about 15\" from the 12v / 24v power supply lead. The USB cable is longer, which makes installation of the box in a concealed location easier. The downside is this is NOT compatible with Garmin traffic receiver models. It will supply power, but the traffic receiver feature will not operate. Two versions of the Garmin traffic receiver models are both identified LMT on the package. One version uses a separate traffic power supply cable, identified by a double cord. These models do not have a T suffix in the model ID on the back of the GPS unit, ex nuvi 2555LM or nuvi 2595LM. The other version uses an internal receiver and the Garmin single round USB cord - these models are identified with a T in the model suffix on the back of the GPS unit, ex. nuvi 2595LMT.
- I don\'t do many reviews as I can never tell which are created by the actual vendor versus a real client. I will tell you that I am a real client that isn\'t very happy. I gave this USB Hardwired kit 3 stars because it does exactly what it says it does. However...one of the questions imposed by another client asked if it would work on an unlisted GPS. The answer was \"this will work on all USB powered devices.\" While this is a true statement it doesn\'t allow all the features of MY device (Nuvi 2597lmt) The T is for traffic and that is what this device doesn\'t support. Apparently there is a communication cable in the original charger that enables or allows the Traffic feature. As soon i plugged in my device i received a warning that stated the cable was unsupported and traffic would be disabled. End of the world? No. It does exactly what it says it does. It charges. I just feel that if vendors make blanket statements they should take the time to give us, the client, all of the data. I would NOT have bought this if i had known the traffic would be disabled. None the less its installed and I am awaiting a different cable that will hopefully work. BTW. item was delivered fast and packaging was perfect!
- I haven\'t had or used this item long enough and never used this brand before,to give it an Honest Review.. But so far, after receiving it, I tested it, it workedand after installing it, it still worked.. I often take a chance on buying \"After Market\"products for my \"Brand Name\" items.. Some are better and some turn out to be Junk..This product seems to be Well Made, nothing fell apart in my hands while installing iton my Motorcycle so for that alone I give it a Good Rating.. The real test will be whenit\'s used on the Road and how it holds up to the environment... It\'s made with a long enoughwire to install it to just about any vehicle and it\'s not a problem if some of that wire has tobe clipped off for a neater installation.. Again, So Far I\'m Happy...
- I purchased this product and it works perfectly. Wanted to connect my Garmin directly to my Yamaha and this is doing the job as it should. I wanted to write this review however, to commend the customer service. My first cable did not power up. I went to the website provided on the paper, that came with the harness, and found a phone number. I called and quickly, without being put on waiting mode, :-) connected to representative. We talked a couple of minutes to confirm my problem. And he said he would send me a new one. Seamless... quick shipping both times. Great seller!!! Thanks!
