Garmin Edge Extended Out-Front Mount

  • This mount is less \"out front\" than the one that came with my 830 (which Garmin calls the \"Flush Out-Front Mount\"). Unfortunately it is enough closer-in that it also has to place the 830 above the top of the h-bar so that you can access the \"Lap\" and \"Start/Stop\" buttons. Unfortunately this position requires me to reach up from the h-bar to scroll the 830\'s screen which is less comfortable than that required by the \"Flush Out-Front\" mount (I rest my palm on the h-bar top when I do this and I have short fingers). Otherwise great mount if you like the position at which it puts your Garmin Edge.
  • I\'m really happy I bought this. I have the Edge 200 and use it all the time. But the rubber bands that hold the mount (the default one that comes with the Edge) on the handlebars where breaking from time to time. I had to order more. It was too easy to twist the rubber bands and break them if you weren\'t careful. This extended mount, however, is huge a improvement. The install is easy. It comes with two rubber fitting, one thick, the other less so. You unscrew the hex screw (the tool for doing this is in the box) and fit it over the round rubber attachment and then tighten it. Solid grip. No wiggle. The Edge 200 (and I\'m sure any Edge with this mount) fits in cleanly and securely. Much easier than that rubber band mounting device. The fact that this extends the device out just a little from the handlebar almost makes it a little easier to check the data.Highly recommend this.
  • This product is great. I never have to worry about my Garmin falling off during a ride, and since it sits in front of the handlebars, it doesn\'t get in the way.
  • This is a great tool with emphasis on navigation (and not on training parameters like Watts etc.). The screen is large (3\") and clear. Operation is straight forward. I find it very suitable for MTB, paying for what I need (map, navigation, main parameters like speed, HR, distance etc.) and not for things that I don\'t use in other Edge devices that are more suitable for road bikers.Cons - the battery life is mediocre, though should be enough for a daily ride (and can be charged during use).
  • I tried three other non-Garmin mounts for my slightly larger Edge Explore, thinking I could get away with a cheaper price, but each had flaws that made them unusable for the Edge Explore. The Garmin mount sits flush with the top of the handlebar so the handlebar does not get in the way when you turn the GPS unit for mounting. Also, this mount comes with two rubber (not hard plastic) adapters that have matching grooves within the handlebar ring, ensuring a solid, cushioned mount for your GPS unit.
  • Ordered this in order to mount my Garmin Edge 530 on my second bike. The only strange thing is that this \"extended\" mount is actually shorter than the original mount that came with the unit. In the picture, you can see the new \"extended\" mount on the LEFT and the original mount that came with the unit on the RIGHT.I ordered the extended mount because I don\'t like looking as far down to see the unit when I\'m riding.
  • Garmin Out Front Mount comes with a 2.5 mm Allen hex wrench, both thick & thin rubber shims. My 22.5 mm diameter MTB handlebars expand out to 31.75 mm diam. in center where I installed the mount using just the THIN rubber shim. Tightened down screw almost to its stop, and it grips the bar perfectly at 31.5 mm diameter point.. Edge 500 rotates to lock in securely, either forward-back position (or rotated 90 degrees side-to-side). The Mount appears to be sturdy and attractive
  • I wish I would have read the product description more closely. It\'s made of plastic. Yes it fits the mount well for my Fenix watch and feels sturdy, but between this and the actual watch mount I\'ve got $70 wrapped up for something that probably costs around a dollar to make and isn\'t exactly the pinnacle of engineering.
