- Seems to work as discribed, however have happily not had to use. Easy set up, though took a little longer for those of us who are a little technologically challenged, to find the right edits.

- I started off with the original SPOT many years ago and just recently upgraded to the Gen4 and I was so hoping for big changes. Unfortunately, there doesn\'t seem to be much noticeable improvement with the models. It still has the weak satellite connectivity that requires a completely open view of the sky. So, you will have limited communication in any sort of woods. Messaging, is very slow. Sometimes messages won\'t actually be sent or received for long periods of time due to the connectivity. However, when a message does go through, the lat/long accuracy is very good. I keep the Spot only as a backup to my Garmin inReach which can get a satellite lock even from inside my home and allows for texting. Still, the Spot Gen4 offers some peace of mind when venturing outside.

- My son enjoys 4X4 in the mountains all year round from summer camping to camping in the snow in Northern California. Just took one snow blizzard and not having cell contact for this mom’s anxiety to go threw the roof.We bought the spot and it’s spot on with accuracy. I highly suggest this product. You do have to pay for a monthly subscription but it’s not expensive you can cancel at anytime. It well worth it.
- Instructions to activate were ridiculous. I decided to return device after realizing I wanted a better device. I deactivated subscription ($187.22 for a year) and received an email confirmation of deactivation. When I received my credit card statement two weeks later, the subscription had not been refunded. I opened an online chat with the company and was told my subscription was \"scheduled to cancel at the end of the term\" which is ONE YEAR! I said NO! I canceled/deactivated the same day as I activated and wanted a full refund. I was then told that I should receive a refund within 21 days. We shall see.
- I’d like this product because it allows me to notify my family when I’m taking off and when I land. It also allows me to notify rescue teams if I land off airport.
