SparkFun GPS Breakout - NEO-M9N, Chip Antenna (Qwiic) Breakout No Soldering Required Breadboardable Contains a Rechargeable Backup Battery Allowing a Warm-Start decreasing time-to-First-f
- This was my first time playing with a GPS unit like this. I fumbled around with the UBlox for awhile before figuring out how to do what I wanted, but once I got the hang of it it was easy. This is easy to connect to other boards and a great tool to learn.
- Great little reciever. Lots of satellites and options. Also supports dGPS with an RTCM stream, and got that working quite easily.
- One of the things that wasn\'t clear from the product descriptions or hookup guides here or on Sparkfun was whether the USB-C connector was only for power or whether it was actually hooked up to the USB interface on the u-blox chip.Well, I\'m happy to report that yes, you can just plug it into a computer using the USB connector and it will get power and USB data as well. Windows 10 immediately recognized it and set it up as a new COM port with no special driver.Works great out of the box and by default it is set up to simultaneously track all four GNSS constellations as well as SBAS. Sitting on my desk here indoors using this version with a tiny chip antenna on the board, I\'m currently getting a solution using 25 satellites, 8 GPS, 4 GLONASS, 5 Galileo, 6 BeiDou, and two SBAS sats providing differential corrections.I also tested it with a 3.3V USB to TTL serial adapter which worked fine as well (I soldered upward pointing header pins onto both sets of connection points on the board). This is one of the few readily available everything-L1 GPS modules that is inexpensive and just works. I just need to make a little case for it now.You can download the free u-center software from u-blox to get at all the exotic features and configuration of the module, as well as providing cool visualizations of the satellites in the sky etc.Highly recommended!
