Garmin Forerunner 920XT Quick Release Kit

  • I purchased this item to save money and not purchase a bicycle computer when I\'ve already got my Garmin GPS watch to do the job and more. My bicycle is a Giant Revolt Select and it comes equipped to attach many, if not all bike computers on the bike without taking up any handlebar space. I already had it ready to go and once this quick release kit arrived, it took me only 5 minutes to switch out the watch band and install the quick release. I love it! I\'m going to include photos to show it mounted on my bike and with the watch band in case you want to use the watch for swimming, running, etc. I\'ve read reviews that the charging cable does not fit correctly with this installed on the watch, but I can confirm that I have no problems at all and mine charges as it should. My charger fits perfectly with this attached to my watch. I\'ve also read that the watch may fall off while swimming, but it really fits tight and there seems to be no problems there either. I definitely recommend this item!
  • This is a great product except for one thing. Garmin, in their infinite wisdom, made the quarter-turn mount on this product 90 degrees rotated from the Edge bike computers. So unless your handlebar mount allows you to rotate the mount, this mount will put your watch SIDEWAYS on your bike. The \"ears\" on this mount are on the top and bottom, compared to the left and right on all other Garmin quarter-turn products. This is just a stupid deviation from Garmin\'s own standard.I used this with an XLAB Torpedo Kompact which allows for the mounting plate to be rotated, so I had no issues. My Zipp Quickview TT mount would not work with this as it does not allow you to rotate the mounting plate. The good news is this is a VERY secure kit to hold your watch during a triathlon. I had to very intentionally remove the watch face from the band to get it onto the bike. It would not fall off by accident.I was also asked by another competitor if the slightly increased height was a concern. It did not bother me at all when running. I did have a little issue getting my wetsuit sleeve over the watch.
  • I was skeptical about this mount because I had read reviews that suggested that the mount was loose. After installing it on my watch band and bicycle handlebars, I can confirm that this mount is rock solid! When engaging the watch into the mounts on either the band or the handlebars, the watch face locks into place very smoothly with a satisfying click to let you know that it is locked. It feels very secure during runs, rides and swims. The mount does raise the watch off of your wrist by about 4mm (making a large watch even larger), but that isn\'t a large detriment.
  • A terrific accessory for your 920XT if you plan to swap the watch from your wrist to your bike. The quarter turn to remove and return the watch, either to the wrist band or the bike mount, requires a satisfying amount of torque and it\'s obvious the watch won\'t accidentally fall out during normal activities (I don\'t swim for exercise so I can\'t speak for how secure the watch will be swimming in a crowd). The instructions to modify the wrist band and install the bike mount are easy to follow and all the tools and hardware are provided. There are no problems removing the watch from the wrist band to place in the Garmin recharging unit. Everything \"clicks\" into place and removes just as easily. This is a very functional mod for a very good price. I highly recommend it.
  • This thing is brilliant. If you are a cyclist and have a 920XT (which is still probably one of the best, albeit ugliest cycling watches out there), just buy it. You have no idea what you are missing trying to look at your wrist rather than your handlebar stem. The trademark Garmin \"rubber bands\" are totally sketch, but the thing is, they work and are durable. As other reviewers have mentioned, the quick release adapter that attaches to the back of the watch makes it seem only slighter less tall than the Empire State Building when you go for a run and wear it as a watch. But seriously, who actually wears a 920XT out in public, day to day? That\'s only recommended if you\'ve taken a vow of celibacy.
  • This is a must-have to be able to put your watch on your bike, if you’re like me and you want to know what your heart rate is and your speed or your pace for your distance and you don’t have a bike computer then this is a must-have you. It could probably be use with a bike computer too, but the ability to be able to pop it off your wrist and put it on your bike and go. You cannot ride the bike in and constantly look at your wrist watch on your wrist because you’ll have an accident
  • So, yes it\'s tall, but there is a bigger problem that relates to product compatibility. I\'ll try to explain this as best I can. I had planned on occasionally removing my Garmin 510 from my Garmin \"Out-front bike mount\" and replacing it with the new 920XT for specific du/tri situations. But for most applications, I wanted to use the more visible 510. So, assuming that both Garmin computers were interchangeable on the Garmin mount, I purchased this quick release kit (again, all Garmin products). After installing the quick release kit to the 920XT I noticed that the two \"fins\" on the back of the watch are rotated 90 degrees as compared to the same locking mechanism molded to the back side of the 510. It requires an allen wrench to remove the disc in the center of the Garmin mount. One must then rotate the disc and replace the allen screws in order to change computers. So, yes both Garmin computers are technically interchangeable on the Garmin mount, but it\'s just a big ordeal. Disappointing:(
  • A handy, easy to install, add on for your Garmin. I couldn\'t believe how easy it way to attach this to my handle bars, and now I can easily go from bike to watch to charger without any hassle. It feels very secure and I don\'t have to worry about trying to read my wrist while riding.
