- I said I would amend my review - so here go\'s: Got it, wouldn\'t boot / charge (see below)...so started the refund process. I even performed the \'soft reset\' and the \'factory reset\' prescribed online...still no go. All this time, I had it plugged in via the PC cord. DON\'T USE THE PC CORD TO CHARGE!!...I decided to give it another try and used the CAR CHARGER, and it immediately responded. In addition to the \'low battery state\' - the screen brightness was so low I could barely navigate to the settings to correct. Once I got the brightness turned up - everything went well, including all of the software updates (now you need the PC-cord). So, there y\'ar - 4 stars only because of the hassle...otherwise the PACKAGING was excellent, and condition appears \'flawless\'. Some of this might be in the instructions - but you have to go ONLINE for those...but I don\'t read no stinking instructions....probably the root failure.
- Great value for a top-line GPS. I\'ve used a similar, albeit smaller, Garmin for years but I retired it because it didn\'t come with lifetime map updates. This Garmin Drive 50 does have lifetime map updates. It was cheaper to buy a new one with lifetime maps rather than update the maps on the old one. Yes, I know this unit isn\'t considered top line because of its fairly low price, but it outperforms GPS units costing a lot more than the Drive 50 does. Garmin has greatly improved the voice software over the older unit I\'m retiring. No more annoying \"Recalculating! Recalculating!\" I have OnStar capability in my vehicle, but I much prefer the way the standalone Garmin operates rather than the OnStar program, which I will be dropping as soon as the free trial is up. Others have spoken of dead batteries and/or missing or faulty cables with the refurbished Garmin units they\'ve bought, but this was not my experience. I received what looks like a brand new unit with new cables and a working battery. No worries, it works exactly as advertised.Edit: 8 months later, this GPS unit still works flawlessly. It was a great value for the money and I would definitely purchase it again if I needed a GPS unit.
- I had bought one of these a while back and had been using it in my Crosstrek. The power button on my wife’s Garmin 50LM broke, so I gave her mine and thought I’d just use my iPhone in conjunction with my Amazon Echo Auto. That was a failed experiment, so I let my wife keep the one she had and I bought another. Just updated the maps and Foursquare data on them.This is a great GPS. It has curve warnings, school zone warnings, and speed drop warnings. All very important.Searching is very easy. All you have to do is start typing the name of what you are looking for and it starts giving you options to choose from. Very nice feature.If you are looking for a good refurbished GPS, this is your unit.
- For this price, I have nothing to complaint since you have lifetime map and real time traffic report.
- We purchased this refurbished GPS and wouldn\'t have guessed that it wasn\'t new. This was such a great price and after taking a long trip we are very pleased that we purchased it. I read other reviews that you have to enter an address and can\'t search a city or state which aren\'t true. You just have to learn how to use it. Love how it tells you the delays and sometimes offers go-arounds for backups.
- Very nice GPS Navigator. When it came the Live Traffic function did not work apparently due to a faulty power cable that houses the antenna for the Live Traffic function. Contacted seller who immediately offered a free return lable or I could contact Garmin for in warrenty service. I contacted Garmin and they were super helpful and I had a new power cable and was up and running in less than a week. SUPER SERVICE!
- I hate that the display doesn’t show current time, ETA, and distance to destination simultaneously. Other units I have had all that plus progress along the route. It also doesn’t show if traffic information is being received. Do the engineers that green light these products even use them?The latest peeve is that I passed my displayed destination, yet the route keeps going in pink. That’s what my photo shows. It lags by about 1000 feet at other times.Now I know why it was \"refurbished\".
- Received it downloaded updated works very. The feature I like best is it ask if you need a break after about 200 miles and give suggestions of things up ahead
