- This is a very responsive and feature rich headunit that unfortunately has tons of quirks:1. The manufacturer provides firmware updates from a webpage that is a disaster to navigate, having all updates for every unit they\'ve made all in one blog post style post all mashed together. Furthermore the instructions on how to update were listed with firmware for a unit I didn\'t own. Luckily support was quick and they walked me through updating rather quickly.2. Unfortunately neither the update page or support warned me the update would erase all my data so I lost everything on the device when doing this. Requiring device format to update is a major con with this device.3. This device runs full fledged Android, not to be confused with Android Auto or Android Automotive. This has the benefit of allowing you to run almost any Android app you can think of but this also brings many cons as lots of apps weren\'t made for this use case. Unfortunately one example is the default Google Maps app. For some reason Google thought it would be a good idea to put your navigation on the right side of the screen rather than centered while in landscape mode. All apps on this device are in landscape mode. This means if you live in the US you need to look all the way to the far side of the screen to see your navigation and you just can\'t see where you\'re going as easily compared to if it were centered. It\'s not just Maps that does this, most other navigation apps are like this now. This isn\'t really the fault of Joying but an option to force apps into portrait mode or open in splitscreen mode by default where they become portrait would be a welcome improvement.4. Another issue with apps is that the DPI is so high on the device most of the controls inside apps are small and hard to press while driving. I highly recommend changing your DPI to 600 or lower from Developer Settings if you choose to buy it so it\'s easier to press buttons.5. Speaking of app compatibility even though it does appear to be running Android 10 many apps don\'t recognize this, possibly because of how custom everything is. This means Google Maps doesn\'t offer dark mode for the map because the feature requires Android 10 which it doesn\'t recognize. This is my dealbreaker for Google Maps since this means at night the light mode will blind you until you get into navigation. Many apps also block you because they say the device is rooted even though it isn\'t. Because I want to use Google Maps and because apps already think it\'s rooted I\'m going to explore rooting so I can try and apply a dark mode theme to maps.6. The Android 12 update they offer on the firmware update page appears to be fake Android 12 as the file size is very small and the only thing it seems to change is the addition of USB Tethering.7. The capacitive touch buttons aren\'t very sensitive and don\'t work half the time.8. My last major complaint is that some very basic Android features such as a lockscreen and notifications aren\'t supported. In fact, attempting to lock the screen through third party apps will make it go blank and require you to unplug the headunit from power to get the screen to come back on. This is no good since if someone steals your car they will have also stolen your Google account and anything else linked to the stereo. The no notifications thing is also annoying since some apps don\'t work properly without them enabled. I could understand them disabling them to reduce distractions but I mean it\'s not like they care if you watch YouTube or whatever when driving as there doesn\'t appear to be anything to prevent that.9. The built in 4G won\'t work on any carriers that have network device restrictions even if it has the supported bands due to the device being so custom.10. The button click of the volume knob only has the option to mute. It\'d be awesome if Joying added the option to make this pause instead.11. The backup camera is only viewable when reversing, you can\'t view it whenever you want.If all the quirks are too much for you you can just use it as an Android Auto or Apple CarPlay player but you\'ll be missing out on many things if you do that.Okay now that I\'ve talked about the many quirks, time for the good:1. Big beautiful screen with responsive touch.2. Not only is the touch responsive but the device is also lightning fast for what it is.3. The hardware volume dial is great to have, and unfortunately many units don\'t have this anymore.4. The sound and included equalizer are excellent. I actually think it sounds better than my previous Sony unit.5. The fact you can run almost any Android app.
- This is a good looking touch screen car audio unit. I tried many units, joying is by far the better/ more premium than the others.Nice ipad like screen. Premium look and feel.Accurate touch screen, no lag.Physical audio/mute button is definitely a must.Single din to fit in almost any car.I have the 8bg one and it\'s very responsive.WiFi is strong.Android auto is wireless! Pretty awesome. Will update as I go along. One down side is the angle of the screen is not adjustable... Gotta figure that outWill update as I go.
- The media could not be loaded. 10-23-2022it’s so far great, there’s a little static filter as youcan see in the video, so far haven\'t crashed or anything major, just something im gønna have to get used to, no big deal, can’t split screen apple music, oh well, great overall, i neededto download my maps for offline for google, thought that was odd because on my google account i already did that, now i got to do it again on the stereo, at least it worked so nothing bad to say about it.could’ve easily been a 5 star if there wasnt a static look on the screen, but it’s not bad so far, id still buy it again.will update in a month of use or if something happens because of it.10/25/2022just noticed that my dvd player doesn\'t turn on, it can still insert and spit øut dvds but the screen doesnt wanna turn on anymore, wasnt doing that till i got this stereo unfortunately, also static is slightly worse.11/19/2021Joying was nice enough to send me a ribbon wire for free to fix my static screen filter problem, I came across something odd tho, on google maps, it’ll work for online but it doesnt shøw me blue line directions that’ll escort me to my destination, not entirely sure why it does that here and there, i got apple car play so it’s not so bad, but for inconvenience, i’d like to have the nav system from the stereo, any help would be nice.12/14/2022I found øut why it wasnt showing the blue line on google maps, google maps was set to update automatic when id connect hotspot/wifi to the stereo, that finally stopped, now it’s a perfect stereo for mewill update anything else.
