Garmin inReach SE+ and Explorer+ Powered Mount with Suction Cup
- The Garmin Powered Mount, in combination with the RAM Suction Mount and double ball arm is a good complementary integration of two companies products, and I have no beef with the way the mount works. However...I purchased this as a kit, supplied by a third party (a company called GPSCity) and fulfilled through Amazon. The kit arrived with a the diamond ball base (the thing that connects to the suction cup) missing. And, I was planning to use the kit on an upcoming trip. I wasted no time contacting GPSCIty and although the service rep was attentive and helpful, they were unable (or unwilling) to send out the missing part overnight, which is what needed to happen if I was to get the part in time for my trip. Fortunately I found that missing part at a local motorcycle shop for $7, so in the end, it cost me a few more bucks to get it installed. Hence, the four-star review.Amazon’s fulfillment that includes third-parties is typically very, very good, but sometimes things don’t work out. I use Amazon to make a lot of purchases, but brick-and-mortor still has its place. After this incident I will try to patronize local retailers more often. Word to the wise: don’t rely solely on Amazon.
- The rectangular RAM Amp mount (ball mount) came with all four screws too short (12mm thread length. Even if I leave the washers off the screws, the threads only protrude by 1.5 threads, so it\'s impossible to even get the locknuts started. Clearly they are having some QC issues at Garmin.I am pleased with the design of the actual mount, the part that holds the Garmin InReach, I already have a good number or RAM mounts for other things, so this review is for the mount - I will bump it up when I get the right parts.GPS City, first asked me to send them a picture of the \"too short\" screws included. I thought that rather silly and unnecessary as I\'d already measured them at 12mm (thread length), and I have to go through several steps to get a picture in an email. When I asked if they wanted a ruler in the picture for size comparison, they \"came around\" and agreed to just send the right screws. Which they promptly did. And which solved the problem. GPS City is normally quite good and with good prices, I\'ve ordered GPS equipment for aircraft from them for years, but had no occasion to use their customer service before.
- Husband always lets me know if he doesn’t like something. So far he has enjoyed this!
- It holds your inrech explorer very well but if you use it on your motocicle it tekas a some space of your handle bar. The good thing it that you can chrge your inreach while it\'s on
- suction looses grip with temperature change
- Other customers felt that the RAM mount was after market but the Garmin part comes with a RAM mount. It appears to be very well made and grips well. You do have to install 4 screws and nuts but it is an easy task.
- This arrived on time and was not damaged. Good quality and works as advertised.
- This is a quality product and the suction cup holds the mount to smooth surfaces very well. It is made specifically to mount the Garmin inReach SE+ communicator.
